Course Description

This train-the-trainer institute will be of particular interest to lead teachers and lead administrators using the award-winning Career Choices curriculum. Participants will learn how to conduct the workshop sessions created for their use, develop a professional development plan for their team, and finalize a comprehensive hour-by-hour lesson plan that meets their school’s mandates and standards. In addition, they’ll learn instructional leadership strategies, tips for facilitating active learning in the classroom, and practical approaches to integrating academics and technology into their Career Choices classrooms.
This expanded course includes activities that prepare the participant to make Career Choices presentations on behalf of Academic Innovations. |
Course Objectives/Goals
- A step-by-step agenda for at least 12 hours of Career Choices implementation workshops that they can conduct onsite at their school
- Information on the 22 training modules and how to use them
- DVDs with the 22 online training modules they’ll require for their own one- or two-day implementation workshop and the follow-up planning sessions
- The first draft of their Excel-formatted, customized lesson plan, based on their school’s program parameters
- Strategies for getting buy-in from all staff and parents (included in the Lead Teacher Training Manual)
- Team building and leadership strategies
- A thorough knowledge of the Career Choices coursework and strategies for integrating academics and technology
- Tips and ideas for creating an active-learning classroom that increases student motivation
- A thorough knowledge of the various technical and curriculum support resources they can utilize
- Hands-on knowledge of the My10yearPlan.com, LifestyleMath.com, and CareerChoices.com internet enhancements

Methods of Evaluating Student Performance
- Attendance at the three-day institute (sign-in and sign-out sheets)
- Each online module has a required five-question assessment that must be completed with 100 percent accuracy
