We know from 18 years of experience that some of the best presenters of the Career Choices are educators who have experience (and a passion) with the curriculum and its goals. Some of these educators are still in the classroom or school administration, and some are either retired or retiring in the next couple of years.
To that end, we’ve developed our certified presenters and certified trainers program. It provides a structure so individuals can become involved with the professional development efforts of Academic Innovations and make a difference in individual lives, school systems, and ultimately our society.
Certified Presenters and Certified Trainers
As fee-based independent contractors, certified presenters and trainers conduct workshops, make on-site visits to adopting schools, and attend conferences to man booths and make presentations. This is a periodic commitment, based on occasional requests from Academic Innovations. In addition, working directly with Academic Innovations staff and Educational Consultants, they are supported as they recruit their own presentations at regional and state conferences.
Who are the candidates most likely to succeed as a certified presenter or certified trainer?
They are:
- Experienced Educators: Specifically in the secondary schools arena, ideally with the Career Choices curriculum.
- Networkers: Connect with key people in the districts they cover
- Promoters/Persuaders: Enthusiastically present the course materials and work directly with one of our inside Educational Consultants, encouraging the adoption of the Career Choices curriculum.
- Technology Savvy: Work competently with basic computer functions and software and the internet-enhanced course material.
They have a:
- Consultant Profile: Work creatively and strategically with each educator to customize a program or lesson plans to meet educators’ particular didactic goals
- Trainer/Presenter Persona: Conduct dynamic presentations and workshops using company-prepared presentation materials and formats
Our Certified presenter and trainer opportunities will appeal to people who:
- are entrepreneurial
- have a passion for making a positive impact on the future of students
- would like to earn additional income while following that passion.
Each Certified Presenter or Trainer is an independent contractor and, therefore, can set his or her own level of participation in the Career Choices program.
What is the difference between a certified presenter and a certified trainer?
A CERTIFIED PRESENTER is prepared to make presentations at local and state conferences, as well as school site visits to work with teams setting up their Career Choices courses.
A CERTIFIED TRAINER is groomed to be able to conduct one and two-day workshops for Academic Innovations as requested, and to recruit his or her own workshops within his or her own area of influence.
PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS
The Basic Requirement:
Each trainer or presenter will have completed the requirements for the PDU course “Career Choices Lead Teacher Institute: Certified Presenter.”
For details visit: www.careerchoices.com/lounge/profdev_ceu3dayb.html
You’ll want to be sure to read all the links found on this page, particularly the buttons found at the bottom. This will provide an overview of the basic training required.
Once this basic training requirement is complete:
Once individuals successfully complete all the work for this course and have received a passing grade from Chapman University College, they can make an application to Academic Innovations to become Certified Presenters. This is achieved by sending duplicate copies of the assignments originally sent to Chapman University College for a grade, along with a resume and a letter of intent.
CERTIFIED PRESENTER
Accepted applicants are qualified to accept assignments from Academic Innovations as certified presenters, or to recruit their own one to three-hour presentation assignments in state and local conferences working in collaboration with Academic Innovations.
To become a CERTIFIED TRAINER
To be designated as Certified Trainers for Academic Innovations, Certified Presenters must present a portfolio of evaluations that demonstrate their ability to clearly communicate with their audience. These must be from at least three outside presentations about the Career Choices curriculum, with a minimum of 18 people per presentation.
At that point, Academic Innovations will arrange for a candidate’s next presentation to be videotaped by an outside vendor. Upon review of the videotape audition, when the individual is judged to have the skills and capabilities required of a national-level trainer, he or she will be designated a certified trainer. Certified trainers can either accept one and two-day workshop assignments from Academic Innovations, or recruit their own (working with Academic Innovations staff).
Presentation and workshop content:
All workshop content conducted by certified presenters and certified trainers must be approved by Academic Innovations. We have learned over 18 years what works and what doesn’t and feel compelled to deliver consistent strategies that work. All certified presenters and trainers are bound to this same level of excellence.
