Q - I’d like to register for one of the online courses. What are the qualifications?
A – The online courses were developed for educators from schools or districts that have adopted the Career Choices curriculum. Once your school qualified for the Career Choices Teachers Lounge, you qualify to register for our online-only courses. For details on Career Choices Teachers Lounge membership requirements, click here.
Q – I’m planning on attending a workshop but our school has not yet adopted the Career Choices curriculum, therefore we do not yet qualify to register of the Teachers Lounge. To earn CEU units for the workshop I am attending, I must complete specific online training modules. What are my options?
A- You have two options:
| |
1. Complete your paperwork, getting required signatures at the workshop you attend. Hold on to those documents and then when your school’s paperwork/invoice has been received by Academic Innovations, complete the registration process. |
| |
2. For workshop participants whose school has not yet adopted, a special 4 month membership to the teachers lounge at a per person charge of $39 is an option. If a qualifying invoice is received by Academic Innovations for the purchase of Career Choices textbooks the participant can request a refund by faxing in this form. The refund form must be received within six months of the book invoice date. |
Q – Is there a time limit for completion of my practicum work?
A - It is expected that all work will be completed on the follow-up practicum assignments and all necessary documentation submitted to Chapman University as outlined in the course guide, no later than 120 days from the registration email notification date. If you require extra time, contact **** to request and extension.
Q – Once I complete the documentation of my practicum work, how long will it take to receive my grade?
A – Allow 4 to 6 weeks after you turn in your course work.
Q – My district/school requires official transcripts. How to I go about securing these?
If you need official transcripts visit the Chapman website for the correct forms. www.chapman.edu/k-12/forms/transcriptReq.asp
Q – I am taking one of the online only courses. How do I arrange for the final interview at the end?
A - Click here to print out a request for an interview form. Follow the directions on this form. Allow up to 3 weeks for the interview date to be finalized.
Q – I may have to leave early from the workshop. Can I get credit for attendance?
A – Unfortunately the agreement with Chapman University does not allow this. The course work is based on the full knowledge outlined in the syllabus. Signature of compliance of attendance are given immediately following the close of the workshop.
Q – My school is planning on adopting the Career Choices curriculum. But due to funding constraints we cannot invoice for the textbooks until mid summer. Is there a way I can register for the Teachers Lounge prior to qualifying for membership based on our order?
- If you school is not a member of the Teachers Lounge because it has not yet adopted the Career Choices curriculum (see membership details) you have two options:
| |
| |
The refund form must be received within six months of the invoice date. |
Q – Can I apply these credits to my course work for my Master Degree?
A – That will depend on your school’s policy. These credits are professional development units and not part of a degree program. Continuing Education Units are used primarily for professional advancement (such as salary increment steps and recertification). Students should seek approval from appropriate district or college officials before enrolling in these courses to satisfy any degree, state credential or local school district requirements. State licensing departments vary regarding their criteria for credit acceptance and some states may not accept credit from university that are located outside their state.
