Some districts choose to contract for ongoing technical assistance, particularly during the first year of implementation. Periodic “tune-ups” allow teachers to meet with an expert, who can guide them on the path to success. This is particularly helpful for district-wide adoptions. For an example of what that might look like, click here. During the initial year, the consultant can also help you identify individuals who have the potential to become a lead or master teacher. That individual is then groomed to take over the classroom leadership and professional development responsibilities in subsequent years.
